Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels. Petra Facts: Petra is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site that enchants visitors from all corners of the globe. Much of Petra's appeal comes from its spectacular setting deep inside a narrow desert gorge. The site is accessed by walking through a kilometer long chasm (or siq), the walls of which soar 200m upwards. Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury, appears dramatically at the end of the Siq. Used in the final sequence of the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." The towering façade of the Treasury is only one of th...

Ajloun Castle

Image
Ajloun Castle  Ajloun is located 73 km north of Amman, at the northwest of Jerash. You will enjoy a fascinating road through a beautiful pine-forest and olive palms until you reach the town of Ajloun. Ajlous is where Hadrian built himself an arch outside the town and stayed over the winter of 129 – 30 AD. In this village, you can visit the Castle of Ajloun or Qalaat Errabadh (Arabic for “Hilltop Castle”), from which there is a wonderful scenery westwards into the Jordan Valley. The marvels of nature and the genius of medieval Arab military architecture have given northern Jordan two of the most important ecological and historical attractions in the Middle East: the sprawling pine forests of the Ajloun-Dibbine area, and the towering Ayyubid castle at Ajloun, which helped defeat the Crusaders eight centuries ago. One of Saladin’s generals built Ajloun Castle (Qal’at Ar-Rabad) in 1184 AD in order to control the iron mines of Ajloun, and to deter the Franks from invading Ajlo...

WADI RUM JEEP TOUR

Image
WADI RUM JEEP TOUR The jeep tour is the ultimate Wadi Rum desert experience! You’ll sit outside in the back of the jeep while driving through the massive desert. I did the full day jeep tour and saw a lot of different things such as Bedouin inscriptions, canyons, rock arches, massive rock formations in different colors, sand dunes and a LOT of sand and rocks! It feels as if you’re driving around on Mars. You also stop at Bedouin tents to get some tea. Even my warm lunch was freshly made by my guide! I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves because no words can describe the beauty of Wadi Rum to book your tour to Jordan please fill the form in the link below https://jordan-car-and-driver.com/quota-itinerary/ or you can see our planned tour https://jordan-car-and-driver.com/jordan-planned-tour/

Camel ride in Wadi Rum

Image
Camel ride in Wadi Rum Traveling around Wadi Rum by camel is highly recommended. Apart from being ecologically sound, it enables you to experience Wadi Rum as the Bedouin have for centuries and to appreciate the silent gravitas of the desert. That said, a ride of more than about four hours will leave you sore in places you never knew existed. Rates for camel-trekking excursions are fixed and listed on a board outside the excursion office in the visitor center. The prices are per person. You’ll enjoy your ride much more if you ride yourself rather than being led. This will cost a bit more as you need to pay for your guide’s camel, but it’s well worth the extra cost. You can easily add on an overnight stay at a Bedouin camp (ask at the visitor center when booking your camel). If you want to return by 4WD, then you have to pay the price of returning the camel to where you collected it from. If you have a lot of gear, it’s better to hire an additional camel (at the same rate) to ...
